Leah’s practical joke has spiraled way out of control. Now everyone seems convinced that the apocalypse is coming – in the form of zombies. The government is calling the virus AM13, and is advising – or more like forcing – everyone to stay indoors while they ’clean up the mess’. Leah tries to persuade everyone that it was all just a horrible mistake, however she starts to see there may be more truth to it all than she first thought.
I received a digital copy of this book at no cost in exchange for an honest review.
Everything zombie and supernatural is all the rage right now, so I have read and reviewed quite a few books in the genre. Lockdown was a refreshing surprise when it comes to the "typical" zombie apocalypse story. I got very invested in the main characters very quickly. The story has a lot of unexpected twists and turns that kept me reading quite late for a few nights. The gore of the virus and the zombies is balanced really well with the rest of the story, so this is not just a bloody gore fest. There is a real, and engaging story here. Lockdown does not have a happy ending, and I am OK with that as it makes the story feel more realistic and frightening. I love the direction this series is heading and I can't wait to read the next installment!
