The Guardians of Sin Book Review

Welcome to the Blackwell Family. We have such things to tell you…
Dragonwell are delighted to announce the publication of a YA debut novel by Jonathan L. Ferrara. Combining religious symbolism with a fast paced plot in a way that will appeal to fans of shows like Supernatural, it’s the first in a series that explores the dangerous new world Nicholas Blackwell finds himself in.
Orphaned at eleven when two demonic men killed his parents, Nicholas Blackwell struggles to cope with the strict rules of his new home, St. Christopher’s academy, unaware that he was the real target for the killers and that his guardian angel saved him.
But when Nick is lured into a demonic ritual that unleashes the Seven Deadly Sins, he must save himself and the rest of humanity. Aided by Amy, a shy but determined girl who seems to know more about his task than she should, Nicholas’s quest is to travel into the City of Demonio and defeat the Seven Guardians of Sin. To succeed, he must confront demons, monsters, and lost souls, learn the mysteries of the Chapel of Dreams, discover the true meaning of friendship and love, and face the darkest secret of all: the Blackwell Family Secret.
I received a paperback copy of this book at no cost in exchange for an honest review.
I love finding really good urban fantasy stories to get  lost in. Guardians of Sin is a fast paced action, fantasy, and adventure story that moves quickly from beginning to end. There was plenty of danger and suspense that kept the story moving, there was also a few laughs thrown in for good measure. The characters were well developed and I found myself really invested in what they were going through. This was a fantastic debut novel and I cannot wait to see what happens for Nicholas next!
Jonathan L. Ferrara was born in San Pedro, California to an Italian fisherman and a mother from New York. Growing up with one older brother, Jonathan had several hobbies: finding the best hiding spots to jump out and scare his mother, discovering new fantasy book series, and imagining outrageous, whimsical worlds full of magic. He is now happily married, residing in California in the City of Angels. He has two wonderful children-his dog Koda and cat Merlin.
