Opening A Salon

Opening A Salon

If you’re thinking about starting a salon in your home or a larger building, there are some things that you need to consider including in the business. First, you need to make sure you have all of the proper business licenses. Think of a creative name, and then you can start shopping for all of the supplies that you need. Decide what services the salon will offer as this will help determine the equipment that you will have.

Start with the waiting area. You want comfortable chairs for customers to sit in as well as a desk so that you can have a cash register and appointment book. You can also add a few decorations that will give a relaxing appearance while in the salon. If you only plan to style hair, then make sure you have plenty of chairs and work stations for the employees or a few stations if you plan on working alone so that you can do one hair style while waiting on someone else’s hair to dry or a color to take time to process. Make sure you have the small items like scissors, brushes, curling irons and flat irons for all of the finishing touches that you want to add to hair. If you plan on offering multiple services, then you need to plan accordingly. These items might include a manicure table or pedicure station. Many of the best hair salons in Portland offer multiple services.
