Princess Cupcake Jones, the modern-day princess who loves her tutu and playing with her toys, is about to begin school . . . but says, “I won’t go!” Cupcake tries everything to avoid her first day—from pretending to be sick to even hiding! However, Mom stays one step ahead of her. Only after arriving at school and meeting a new friend does Cupcake realize that school might not be as scary as she thought. The book features a special word (“love”) hidden in each illustration.
I received a copy of this book at no cost in exchange for my honest review.
This is a really cute story book for girls getting ready for their first day of school. The story is adorable and makes you laugh, and the pictures are bright and colorful. The story is told in 3-4 lines per page and is in a rhyming cadence. My friend’s daughter was starting Kindergarten this year and was very nervous. She was so excited when I gave her this book. She could not wait to read it. She must have read this 25 times before her first day. She loved Princess Cupcake Jones, and thought her arguments against going to school were hilarious. This story helped her realize that it was ok to be nervous, but that school could be an exciting and fun adventure! She wound up having a great first day, and loves going to school to see her new friends every day.
