Designed by Caryn West ,the mission for the puzzle is rooted in compassion and truth. In 2008 she wrote a book, The Trouble with the Alphabet a touchingly beautiful compilation of art, poetry, short essays, and informational resources that address some of the world’s toughest issues facing children. Not merely a book, it is a campaign to raise awareness, promote understanding, and inspire action through a unique brand of educational products. From this came the Teach the Children Change the World Puzzle.
Great debates are currently being waged about the global economy, environmental issues, and the root causes of conflict. Consequently, the world’s most valuable resources are often overlooked. Undeniably, children are our future. What we teach them at home and in our schools will one day reflect the successes and failures of mankind. The Trouble with the Alphabet is committed to providing children, parents, and teachers with a more complete view of humanity – what needs to be changed, what must be protected, and inspiring examples of people and organizations making a difference. If we are to teach our children not just to read, write, and compute, but to better understand each other and the world, if we are to change the world for the better…what better place to begin than with the ABC’s?
This is a beautifully colorful and educational puzzle. The pieces are bigger and sturdier than most other puzzles. My boys can put this together and take it apart easily. They obviously don’t understand the story behind the puzzle but they are fascinated by the pictures and bright colors. My 6 year old is in Kindergarten so he gets very excited when he gets it all put together with all the letters right.
